The Art of Making: ID Sculpture

Ian Glas, founder and CEO of ID Sculpture in Gunnison, discusses the company's mission "to create sculptural play features, mainly for children, in public parks [that are] centered around climbing as an activity."

Glas notes that the process begins digitally, but moves to the production floor for hand-sculpting and finishing. After applying specialized concrete to the foam and armature, ID Sculpture's artists take center stage. "There's a lot of artwork that's applied to that final layer," says Glas.
