Jobs Added in July

Aug 07, 2016

(CNSNews.com) - The economy added 255,000 jobs between June and July, according to the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics. 38,000 of those jobs were in government (federal, state and local); and 9,000 were in manufacturing.

The 9,000 manufacturing jobs added in July follows an increase of 15,000 in June, which the National Association of Manufacturers called "an encouraging sign."

However, NAM noted that manufacturing employment has declined 15,000, on net, year-to-date, reflecting "softness in demand and production." NAM did say that since the end of the Great Recession, manufacturers have added 852,000 workers.
